The only real difference between natural and synthetic diamonds is their history. Diamond testers (which is what those hand held things are called) do check the amount of heat conductivity as a test. Diamonds are a form of pure carbon, moissanite a form of silicon carbide (in other form used as abrasive material or for cutting tools), cubic zirconium is zirconium dioxide, zircon is zirconium silicate, sapphire is an aluminum oxide, quartz is silicon dioxide.</description>
