Question by Miss A: Moissanite vs Diamond?

I have been sending my boyfriend hints because he asked me too. I’ve never been big on diamonds. They are overpriced and we’ve been brainwashed to think they are rare. I read an article that said there are enough diamonds in vaults to give everyone in America a cup full of them.
I came across Moissanite (found in meteorites) and have fallen in love. I’ve read articles where reputable jewelers can’t even tell the difference sometimes between a diamond and moissanite.
I’m not trying to pass it off as a diamond anyway.
I don’t like how the diamond industry tries to say diamonds are an investment when they really aren’t. You can’t even sell a diamond for the price you bought it for anywhere.
I feel like an engagement rings serves two purposes.
1. To look pretty.
2. To remind us of that special day of his love and commitment.

How do you feel about other gemstones in engagement rings? Do you feel that diamonds are the only way to go? Do you feel if it’s not a diamond then it’s not a real stone?
How do I sound jealous? I was asking if people felt like diamonds are the only true love symbol. I’ve read things saying that if it’s not a diamond then he doesn’t love you. Or that De beers brainwashing scheme where he has to put away three months salary to buy an engagement ring.
I think Moissanite outshines diamonds and I was trying to get other opinions.

I have an aquamarine engagement ring simply because I like it better … colored stones are more my style/personality than a plain clear diamond.
So I love the idea of non-diamonds in engagement rings
