I have a 1.5 K 3 stone Moissanite ring and LOVE it. I have taken it to 3 jewelers and they all could not even tell that it wasn’t a diamond. The only jeweler that knows is my personal jeweler and he said even he couldn’t tell. It will even pass an electric diamond test. The only way they can tell is if they use a special tool just to detect Moissanite. We were even hard up for cash one week to pay our rent payment and decided to see if we could pawn it for that week. Pawn shop couldn’t even tell that it was not a real diamond. They offered to buy it straight out for 00. We only paid 0 for this on eBay. Just make sure your ring is Charles and Colvard Moissanite or else its not real Moissanite. Oh had my ring appraised by a jeweler who thought that it was a Diamond and he appraised it at 00. He said my husband must really love me to spend that much. The best part is that no one died, lost a limb or any thing for me to have my engagement ring. If you are worried about people thinking that you have something you cant afford you could always say you got it from a jeweler like Friedman’s for a great closeout price or just stay under 1 carat.
My ring doesn’t ever look green/yellow/gray at all. I have looked at it under tons of lighting conditions and it always looks white/clear and has tons of FIRE. I have put it next to a diamond ring and the Moissanite looks MUCH better.

If you choose moissanite that is a personal choice. A jeweler that can not tell the difference is not worth his weight in gold (pun intended). It seems as if you are interested in the Moissonite because it can pass for a diamond. If so, I say spring for the diamond. Or another stone that would make your engagement ring unique and special.
BTW…Here are some other cons you failed to mention:
Cons: Can be slightly green or gray rather than colorless, especially in bright daylight. Make sure you examine a potential moissanite stone under a variety of lighting conditions, and that you know your store’s return policy.
Jewelry for Investment – Jewelry made of synthetic gemstones are not considered investment.
Color – Moissanite has a slight yellowish and greenish tint which becomes more noticeable with increasing gem sizes (carat weight).
Fluorescence – An undesirable hazy effect that causes them to appear slightly green or yellow. The effect of Fluorescence on Moissanite is much greater under natural light or in sunlight. A jewelry dealer therefore tends to show the stones under a pink tinged light as this tend to cancel out the fluorescence.
Moissanite is highly birefringent (a birefrigent crystal splits a light beam into two) which is a desirable quality in some optical applications, but is not desirable in gemstones. Moissanite jewels are therefore cut along the optic axis of the crystal to minimize birefringent effects.
Fire – Moissanite has more fire or brilliance producing a more synthetic effect. The high dispersion of 0.11 is apparent in Moissanite (nearly 2.5 times greater than that of diamond) and readily distinguishes it from diamond with a dispersion of 0.04 which is virtually unnoticed.
Hardness – Diamonds are harder than Moissanite which is 9.5 on the Mohs scale compared to a diamond at 10.0 on the Mohs scale.
Inclusions and Flaws – Moissnaite are manufactured to appear like diamonds, Moissanite gemstones have inclusion. Also natural flaws are absecent in Missanite replaced instead by tiny, unnatural, white, ribbon like structures that are a result of the growing process.
Rarity – Moissanite gemstone is not rare and can be made quickly and in vast quantities, whereas natural diamonds take millions of years to form.
Status and Wealth – It has not got the same status as a diamond and does not indicate wealth.
Symbolic Value – Diamonds have long symbolized love and purity.
